Building partnerships to grow markets
Building on the waste to wealth mantra that was a hallmark of India’s Presidency of the G20 in 2023, PM Modi has emphasised his country’s commitment to the development of biogas.
Speaking at India Energy Week, PM Modi affirmed his country’s commitment to see 5,000 large scale compressed biogas plants commissioned before 2030 – representing a 100-fold increase in the scale of the sector. He also highlighted the strategic importance of India’s G20 Global Biofuels Alliance initiative, of which the WBA is one of 12 founding international organisations, saying this will promote the adoption of biofuels globally and ‘help in creating economic opportunities worth around $500bn’.
It is against this positive backdrop that we will be hosting the 2nd World Biogas Association India Congress later this year. This will seek to build on the firm foundations established at the inaugural high- level Congress, which established India’s potential and ambition for biogas and the benefits of pursuing an aggressive growth strategy.
